National Industry Rising Star – Richard Norris – Globe Home Timber & Hardware Broken Hill

RISING STAR’s

On the last day of March the Industry’s who’s who joined together for the 2017 National Hardware Industry Luncheon at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground). Key note speaker for the event saw Paul Murray from Sky Live providing a raw and robust insight into the worlds of politic’s, the economy and business in Australia.

The event also saw the culmination of the weeks activities for each states rising stars who as part of their state awards received the trip to Melbourne, the tour of IHG stores, behind the scene’s of the Distribution Centre, meetings with key industry people and dinners.

The Rising Stars for this year were (L-R) James Domaille – Provan’s Home Timber & Hardware (VIC) ; Richard Norris – Globe Home Timber & Hardware (SA) ; Kate Lawrence – Branxton Home Hardware (NSW) and Shelby Kynock- Pinks Mitre 10- (SA).
Guests at the event viewed a short video from each of the Rising Stars. Each represented thbooklet sponsorseir state well with the final decision almost being a three way tie, it was that close. In the end there can only be one with the National Industry Rising Star being awarded to Richard Norris form Globe Home Timber & Hardware.
In his acceptance speech Richard was very appreciative of the support and encouragement offered by his employers at Globe Hardware in Broken Hill and to the Association for what has been an experience of a life time as part of the Rising Stars. Richard took home $500 plus a study tour to Sydney later in the year, where he will see the best of Sydney’s hardware stores and tours of various supplier companies which is on top of his State prize which included $4000 worth of training.

During the luncheon, Mr Clint Field from Independent Hardware Group and the event sponsors, provided a quick update on the latest developments and progress within IHG and expressed how exciting the year ahead would be. This was followed by Chair of Hardware Australia, Ian Cornwell giving an update on Hardware Australia.
