Certificate III in Retail (Hardware)

ABOUT

This qualification has been designed and developed to specifically meet the needs of hardware industry and staff.

The qualification provides participants with key skills and knowledge that allows them to engage with customers, provide in-depth product and service offerings,  sell to customers, organise and maintain work areas and displays, and carry out specific work responsibilities to required organisational expectations and safety. Individuals will have a good foundation of product and service knowledge that will enable them to interact effectively with customers and facilitate sales and service.

DELIVERY

Our traineeship model is aimed at being flexible utilising a combination of online, workbook, electronic and face to face delivery to suit participants.

Delivered over approximately 12 – 18 months training sessions occur every 6  to 8 weeks with continual support and tutition via Skype, email and telephone communication.

Practice and implementation of new skills and learnings is applied directly in the workplace with the supervisor overseeing progress between visits.

SPECIALTY PATHWAYS

Hardware

Units allow for the development of more in-depth product knowledge in relation to a range of specific hardware products such as tools, door and window furniture, pool equipment and accessories, plumbing, and paints and accessories.

Timber

These units allow participants to develop a greater understanding  of a wide range of timber products such as the structural grading of timber, plywood, decking, flooring, fascia/trim timbers, and specific species such as kwila, oak, spotted gum, and a range of hardwood and softwoods. It will assist individuals to understand the applications of such timbers including their use; treatment and suitability for both indoors and outdoors.

Nursery

Units provide participants with a good understanding of the types of common nursery plants to be found in a hardware nursery. These units cover basic plant recognition and their culture, and maintenance and care of nursery plants including weeding, feeding and pruning.
